Alliance Française Central Queensland (AFCQ) is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone who participates in or is affected by our activities.

We are committed to promoting and protecting the welfare and human rights of all people, particularly children and vulnerable individuals.
AFCQ has zero tolerance for abuse, neglect or exploitation of any kind.
All concerns are taken seriously and managed lawfully, fairly and sensitively, with the safety and wellbeing of those affected as the
highest priority.

- committee members
- staff and volunteers
- contractors and partners
- students, members and event participants
Safeguarding approach
AFCQ takes a risk‑based and proportionate approach to safeguarding. We work to:
- prevent harm before it occurs
- identify and respond to safeguarding risks
- ensure people understand their responsibilities
- foster a positive and respectful culture
All staff and volunteers are expected to comply with AFCQ’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding requirements.
Reporting concerns
Anyone who becomes aware of, or reasonably suspects, abuse, neglect or exploitation involving AFCQ activities is encouraged to report their concern as soon as possible.
Reports can be made:
- directly to a committee member; or

confidentially by writing to the Secretary at

How reports are handled
All concerns are managed in line with AFCQ’s internal Safeguarding Policy and Incident Response Plan.
Where required, matters will be reported to police or other relevant authorities. Privacy and confidentiality are respected wherever
possible, unless a person’s safety is at risk.
Review and governance
AFCQ regularly reviews its safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective, proportionate and compliant with legal and regulatory obligations.
Full safeguarding policies are available to staff, volunteers and authorities on request.
