Annual Events

Throughout the year, Alliance Française Central QLD curates a dynamic calendar of cultural gatherings designed to bring the community together.

La Chandeleur

January 31 • 1:30 PM

Merci beaucoup to our members who joined us for our Chandeleur celebration in Yeppoon. It was a delightful afternoon of crêpes, conversation and French tradition, bringing our community together to start the year in a truly sweet and convivial way.

Merci encore to our generous hosts for opening their home, and to everyone who contributed to making the event such a success.

French Film Festival

may 29 - 31

Merci beaucoup to everyone who joined us for our 17th French Film Festival in Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

We were delighted to share a wonderful selection of films celebrating French cinema, with strong support from our community, including a sold-out screening in Yeppoon.

A heartfelt thank you to our attendees, volunteers, committee members and sponsors for helping make the festival such a success.

We look forward to welcoming you again next year.

French Singing Workshop and Concert

june 21

Our Fête de la Musique afternoon celebration brought together music, language, and French culture in a joyful and convivial atmosphere. The event began with a French Singing Workshop, where participants learned Non, je ne regrette rien and Le temps de l’amour, before joining the concert.

The program featured performances by the Yeppoon Choral Society Voices Choir, Les Chantelles, and Noteworthy, alongside a solo rendition of Il me dit que je suis belle. The finale, Sympathique, saw the audience enthusiastically singing along, embodying the spirit of World Music Day as a shared celebration of music.

Guests also enjoyed French-inspired refreshments, and the beautiful acoustics of Athelstane House enhanced the performances throughout the afternoon.

Le Quatorze Juillet - Bastille Day

July 12

Our Bastille Day celebration brought together members and friends of Alliance Française CQ for a delightful afternoon of French food, friendship, music and camaraderie.

Guests enjoyed a generous charcuterie spread featuring a selection of French cheeses from Archer Cottage, shared good conversation, and took part in a lively Bastille Day trivia competition. Congratulations to the winning team!

Mille mercis to everyone who attended and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

A special merci beaucoup to Les Chantelles for their beautiful performances of Barcarolle and The Flower Duet. Their music was a highlight of the afternoon and greatly appreciated by everyone in attendance.

Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating France's national day. We also extend our sincere thanks to the Livingstone Shire Council for its support in providing the venue.
We look forward to welcoming you to our next event.

Taste of the World Cultural Festival

AUGUST 22

Come and find us under the Boathouse in the Café Precinct, where we'll once again be serving our highly popular and extremely delicious, sweet crêpes. Whether you're a long-time supporter of AFCQ or discovering us for the first time, our crêpe stall is the perfect place to stop, relax and enjoy a taste of France while taking in the vibrant atmosphere of the festival.

The much-loved Battle of the Fillings returns for another year. Will Nutella reign supreme for a third consecutive victory, or will the classic Lemon & Sugar combination finally claim the crown? Every crêpe purchased helps decide the winner, so be sure to cast your vote with your taste buds.

Alongside our two contenders, we'll also be serving a range of delicious toppings including maple syrup, strawberry jam, caramel, fresh banana, fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Mix and match your favourites, catch up with friends and family, and enjoy one of the festival's sweetest traditions.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing a little French flavour with the Rockhampton community.

Bon appétit!

This year we're excited to continue the tradition at The Haven, where a variety of room configurations provide flexibility for couples, friends and those attending on their own.
